On homework sheet #4, I asked you to calculate thermal energy, using the table on page 250. On page 252 there is a sample problem of this type:
How much thermal energy would be produced by burning 12.0 g of octane?
The table on page 250 says that burning 1 gram of octane would produce 47.8 KJ of energy (47.8 KJ/gram). SO 12 grams, would produce 12 times the energy, or 47.8 KJ times 12 which equals 574 KJ.
You do moles the same way, except you use The molar heat of combustion value.
